Morrin Rout spoke with Matt McEvoy on Bookenz this week about 30 Queer Lives: Conversations with LGBTQIA+ New Zealanders:

‘When I was a gay kid growing up probably over 20 years ago now, there was never this kind of book available. Books about New Zealanders were generally Edmund Hillary, rugby players, that kind of thing. And when I looked into it there still wasn’t any book that celebrated the more diverse side of the New Zealand population, the New Zealand society — including the queer community, the rainbow community — so partly it was to redress that balance and show the contribution that the rainbow community makes to New Zealand’s rich tapestry of people.’
