Morrin Rout from Bookenz interviewed Jan Kemp on her memoir Raiment. She noted that ‘it brings the reader right next door to you.’
Jan says of writing Raiment:
‘It came quite naturally to me to tell it as I was seeing it in my memory . . . every day you sort of turn yourself inside out and sit down and become the being that you were however many years ago and try and write from that point of view. That was what I endeavoured to sustain throughout the book, that the voice should grow as I grew.’
